Our story
Faraja Orphanage Childrens Home is a registered non-profit organization outside Arusha (at Shangarai) in Tanzania and was established by Mr. Faraja Maliaki 2008. Faraja Orphanage accepts children between the age of 3 and 15 years old regardless of tribe, religion or gender.

Faraja Orphanage started with only 5 kids, but has grown to over 200 kids of all different ages. Faraja runs strictly on donations and volunteer work, and right now Faraja is struggling tremendously with funding. One goal we have is to get enough donations to have every child be able to eat 2 meals a day (most only can get 1 meal a day). Another goal we have set is to raise enough money to provide the 45% of the 200 kids infected with HIV proper medical treatment and doctor visits. We also hope to create a chicken coup and cow supply (for food for the children and to use the eggs to sell at the market for profit) so we can be more self-sufficient and not have to rely so heavily on donations and sponsors.

The orphanage provides pre-primary education (nursery) and has 4 other classes, which are: Baby baby class, baby class, middle class and big class (divided by age group). The teachers at Faraja are extremely passionate about the children's education and future, but also rely on any donations for their own personal income.

We provide the children as best we can by giving them food, shelter, clothes and the most important thing: try to give them a proper education. By giving them a proper education they will get the opportunity to change their life situation and in the future perhaps to fulfill their dreams. Faraja Orphanage Children's Home wants to help all the children living in poverty and with illness, but we can't do it ourselves, so we need your help!
